Gloria Lynne Henry was an American jazz singer and songwriter who achieved international fame in the 1950s and 60s. Born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1929, Gloria began singing in church choirs at an early age. She went on to study at the Juilliard School of Music, and sang with a variety of big bands, including those of Count Basie and Duke Ellington. She released her first album, "Gloria Lynne Sings", in 1958, and went on to record over 30 albums throughout her career. Her signature style was a blend of jazz, blues, and soul, and her songs often featured her warm, emotive vocals. Gloria was inducted into the International Jazz Hall of Fame in 1995, and she continued to perform until her death in 2013.
